The Racers for Excellence fundraiser luncheon is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. next Tuesday at the Newcastle High School Wellness Center.
Last year’s luncheon resulted in four $1,000 scholarships to worthy Newcastle seniors. The chamber hopes to do the same again this year. A message was sent out by the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Team and the chamber’s Racers for Excellence Committee.
It states, “As valued members of our community, we wanted to reach out to you in regards to our Racers for Excellence Scholarship Luncheon presented by Pioneer. This event serves as a cornerstone in our efforts to support the educational aspirations of deserving students in our community. All proceeds from the luncheon’s auction will be dedicated to funding scholarship awards.
“We believe that investing in education is vital for the growth and prosperity of our community, and your support can make a significant impact in the lives of our future leaders.”
The letter states that the ambassadors and the committee members are reaching out to request donations toward this year’s auction.
They said contributions can come in various forms, including but not limited to:
• Desserts: Your delectable creations can sweeten the auction offerings and add an extra layer of enjoyment to the event.
• Electronics: Cutting-edge gadgets or tech accessories can attract bids and contribute to the success of our fundraising efforts.
• Gift Cards: Whether it’s for dining, shopping, or experiences, gift cards provide versatile options that appeal to a wide range of auction attendees.
“Your generosity will not only benefit the recipients of the scholarships but also demonstrate your commitment to fostering educational excellence within our community,” the letter states.
It continues, “Your support is invaluable, and we appreciate any assistance you can provide. Donations items must be received no later than 10 a.m. on the day of the event.”

Three of the chamber scholarships are named after Newcastle leaders. They are Mona Brite, Cindy Frizzell, and Gene Reid.
