The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics hosted its Annual Teacher Appreciation Day on Feb. 7. At the event, Newcastle resident and OSSM senior, Andrew Nelson, honored Kevin Jones, his previous teacher at Newcastle High School.
Andrew said, “If I had to choose one word to summarize Mr. Jones, it would be ‘genuine.’ Not only was he a fantastic teacher who could make even abstract concepts in chemistry seem simple, but he was a man who truly cared for his students.
“He went above and beyond to engage with students in and out of the classroom, while his classes were always compelling, making even the least enthusiastic students excited to learn.”
Nationally ranked as the No. 5 public high school in the United States, OSSM provides a college-level, academically advanced curriculum in science and mathematics to juniors and seniors.
