Newcastle Chamber of Commerce board member Brittany Houser recently announced that the February 27 chamber luncheon will be the annual Racers for Excellence Scholarship Auction and Luncheon. The luncheon will be from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Newcastle High School Field House/Wellness Center, 101 N. Main. The public is invited to attend.

This event raises funds for the chamber’s three scholarships: the Mona Brite, Cindy Frizzell, and Gene Reid scholarships.

Houser said come eat, try some desserts and support Newcastle students. She said donations are sought for desserts and other auction items.

Last year, the chamber was able to give four $1,000 scholarships. They went to Tyler Scagnetti, Landen Goldston, Kyla Martinez, and Zehra Hafeez.

Chamber CEO/Executive Director Gayla Riddle said through the generosity shown by Newcastle-area residents, the chamber has been able to make a profound impact on the lives of the talented and deserving students.

Riddle said the luncheon is a time to come together in unity and purpose, with hearts full of hope and determination, and make a difference that will last for generations to come.

In other Chamber business, a Morning Mingle will be 9 a.m. February 9 at Custom Dental, 3249 N.W. 32nd Street in Newcastle.
