The January report from the Oklahoma Tax Commission was recently sent out and reflects returns of tax dollars sent back to area municipalities for purchases made in December.
Blanchard, Goldsby, Lindsay, Norman, and Pauls Valley showed significant increases in sales, while McClain County had a decrease.
For Use taxes, Blanchard, Goldsby, Newcastle, Pauls Valley and Purcell showed increases from the previous year.

Every state with a sales tax has a companion tax for outside the state. In Oklahoma, this is a “use tax.”
When someone purchases items for use in Oklahoma from retailers who do not collect sales tax, the buyer owes the state on those items. The state use tax was first enacted in 1937.
