One person was killed in a hit-and-run in Newcastle December 24.
Newcastle Police Department released a statement saying that shortly after 1 a.m. that morning, the Newcastle Police Department received a 911 call about a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the 2900 block of the North Highway 62 service road.
NPD states that emergency medical services were dispatched from the initial call, and officers who arrived on the scene rendered aid to the victim until EMS arrived.
It was later determined the victim’s injuries were fatal. The name of the victim has not been released by Newcastle Police.
The case is currently under investigation, and a suspect has been identified. NPS states there is no additional information available for release at this time.
