Insight into the ‘world of work’

NHS Career Expo planned Jan. 25

Newcastle High School will be hosting a Career Expo on January 25, 2024, for its students. They would like to invite your area business or organization to be involved.

“A school goal is that each student leaves us with a plan after high school,” said a school spokesperson.

Utilizing information from their Individual Career and Academic Planning (ICAP) the school system hopes to introduce students to long-term employment leads, career information, and insights into the world of work that they did not have previously.

NHS is reaching out to community business members because they feel that you represent an industry, career, or education program that will interest Newcastle students as they near graduation and look to make future plans.

The January 25 Expo will be at Newcastle High School, 101 N. Main Street, and will have 20-minute sessions. These sessions will be held between 9:40 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.

The morning session is from 9:40 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. and the afternoon session is from 11:25 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch.

Employer and organization sessions are 20 minutes each. At these sessions, representatives from your business or organization will discuss career fields, interactives and presentations, and provide time for questions and answers.

An education/training session involves recruitment, and businesses and organizations are encouraged to bring brochures and information, provide a question and answer session, and schedule tours of their facilities to interested students.

For anyone interested in attending, please call Nikki Gayler at 405-387-6488 or you can contact her by emailing [email protected]. ok.us.

She asks participants to please let the school know if your institution has equipment or vehicles to display or that the students can tour.
