As a freshman, Leader placed at both the Regional Swim Meet and the State Swim Meet.

At Regionals Leader won first place in the Individual Medley and first place in the Butterfly Stroke on February 4 at Edmond.

At the State Swim Meet, Leader swam two personal best times earning a second place in the 200m individual medley, and third place in the 100m breast stroke.

Leader’s season started in early November and continues through February 17. He has already had success this year, much of that coming from competing against Class

6A schools even though he will swim Class 5A for postseason.

At a swim meet November 14 with swimmers from Norman, Mustang and Piedmont, Leader won first place in the 100m freestyle with a time of 52.47.

He won first place in the 100m backstroke with a time of 58.23.

At a meet November 28 against Norman and Carl Albert, Leader won second in the 100m freestyle with a time of 51.45, and first place in the 100m backstroke with a time of 58.29.

Swimming against Norman and Yukon on December 5, Leader won two first places. These came in the 100m butterfly with a time of 55.79 and in the 100m backstroke with a time of 58.23.

Leader has been working very hard this year, practicing seven times a week since school started. He swims Monday through Friday after baseball practice, and Tuesday and Thursday mornings before school.

He will continue swimming meets until competing at Regionals on February 2 at Mitch Park in Edmond, and then the State Swim Meet is February 15-17 at Jenks Aquatic Center.
