Christmas season brings community activities

‘Holiday Whobilation’ Newcastle High School and Middle School Cheer are raising money with a benefit “Holiday Whobilation.”

‘Holiday Whobilation’ Newcastle High School and Middle School Cheer are raising money with a benefit “Holiday Whobilation.”

From 7-10 a.m. December 9 at the high school cafeteria, participants can have “Breakfast with the Grinch” for a $10 donation.

Grinchmas Blood Drive The City of Newcastle and Our Blood Institute will have a blood drive from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday, December 19 at the Newcastle Storm Shelter, 851 N. Carr Drive. Donors will receive a long-sleeve holiday Tshirt, while supplies last.

They’ll also get, for the 12 Days of Grinchmas promotion, a “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” book by Dr. Seuss to keep or regift at a holiday toy drive.

Adopt a Family

Frontline Family Solutions is asking the public to help provide Christmas for a family in need. Those wishing to do so can adopt a family to provide gifts for the children, donate items such as diapers, wipes, clothes, toys, etc., and/ or make a tax deductible donation to the Frontline Family Solutions Christmas Fund at www.fronlinefs.org.

Ugly Sweater Mingle

This month’s Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Morning Mingle will be holiday themed and participants are asked to wear their ugly and bright sweaters.

The Morning Mingle will be at 9 a.m. December 15 at Pioneer’s Newcastle office, 901 N. Main Street.

“Dress to impress in your holiday worst for your chance to win prizes or the ugliest trophy of all,” organizers said.
