Christmas time in the City, ring-a-ling

Plans underway for Christmas parade, park activities Dec. 2

Newcastle’s lighted Christmas parade is in the planning stages and the City’s Parks & Recreation is looking for parade float participants, booth entries, and sponsors.

Kyle Marks, director of Parks and Recreation, said the parade is planned for 5:45 p.m. December 2 and a route has not yet been decided since the City will have to work with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation to shut down a portion of State Highway 62 (Main Street).

Marks said if you are interested in participating as a float or having a booth at the event, go to either the City of Newcastle website, or to the link they provide at https:// www.cognitoforms.com/ CityOfNewcastle1/ChristmasInTheParkSignup2023.

For the accompanying 3rd Annual Christmas in the Park, Marks said the City is looking for an assortment of vendors, crafters, bakers, treat makers, gift sellers, and more.

“We want the Christmas Markets to appeal to the senses,” Marks said.

The event is also on December 2 at Veterans Park and will be from 3-6:30 p.m. Booth rental is $25 for a 10x10 space. Payments can be made at City Hall with either cash or check. Booth rental fees will go to support Firehouse Santa.

Vendors will be responsible for bringing their own tables and tents.
