The Racers lengthened their win-loss record to 6-1 on the year with a 43-20 win against Harrah on Thursday.

Newcastle put up 14 points in the first quarter and another 17 points in the second quarter while holding Harrah to only seven first half points. The Racers added another 12 points in the third and fourth to Harrah’s 13 second half points for the eventual outcome.

Head Coach Jeff Brickman said the Racer offense and special teams played very well. He said the defense adjusted after Harrah’s first drive and then played well for the rest of the game, until late when substitutions were made, giving some of the younger athletes some playing time.

Brickman said TJ Bradford had several big runs, and Jackson Schanuel had a 49-yarder, but he added that the special teams were “fantastic all night.”

The Racers rushed for 300 yards while holding Harrah to 4/13 on third downs.

Newcastle next plays Classen School of Advanced Studies.

Brickman said the Racers are trying to improve on fundamentals each day and they look forward to another opportunity Friday night to improve.
