Newcastle Schools kicked off its 2023-24 fishing season with a tournament at Lake Eufaula, but came home without placing.
This year’s team anglers are: Trenton Shetley and William Conner, both freshmen, north division; Katelynne and Kaleigh Williams, both freshmen, south division; Lucas Conner and Crosby Winchester, both seventh graders; junior division.
Reports indicate that Shetley and Conner had a successful day of pre-fishing, but then on the tournament day they had issues with their boat batteries, and then issues with the motor.
Their next tournament is in April 2024.
