Two wins last Thursday against the Wagoner Bulldogs paved the way to the State Tournament for the Newcastle Racers’ fast-pitch softball team.
The Racers (31-3, 12-0) play Cache (29-10, 10-2) at 4 p.m. today (Thursday) on Field 1 at the FireLake Ball Park at 18160 Rangeline Road in Shawnee.
Newcastle ended Wagoner’s fast-pitch season, winning 6-0 and 4-1 at the Super Regional Tournament. The Racers won the Regional Championship the week before, and they were undefeated in District play.

The winners continue forward in the brackets with games on Friday, and then the two remaining teams will vie for the State Championship at noon on Saturday at OU Stadium in Norman. A clear bag policy is in effect for the tournament.
