Newcastle Public Library holding ribbon cutting ceremony The Newcastle Public Library will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. October 16 in Veterans Park in Newcastle to celebrate the opening of its new Story-Walk location.

Featuring panels along pathways containing book pages in sequence, the StoryWalk is a fun, educational activity that combines family time, physical activity, and literacy.

The Newcastle Story-Walk marks the eighth such location for the Pioneer Library System, with additional sites being available in Blanchard, McLoud, Moore, Noble, Purcell, Shawnee and Tecumseh.

Many StoryWalks were made possible by grant funding from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Institute of Museum & Library Services.

The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, Vermont, and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library.
