Candidates interested in filing for municipal office in Mc-Clain County municipalities will file Declarations of Candacy beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2023.
Karen Haley, Secretary of the McClain County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, when the filing period ends.
Haley reminds voters that Contests of Candidacy must be filed no later than Friday, February 10, 2023, and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed.
Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices:
City of Newcastle — Councilmember Ward No. 1 and Councilmember Ward No. 2.
Town of Goldsby — Board of Trustees Ward No. 1, Board of Trustees Ward No. 3, Board of Trustees Ward No. 5, and Town Clerk/Treasurer.
Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at Oklahoma.gov/ elections or by contacting the McClain County Election Board Office at 405-527-3121 or mcclaincounty@elections. ok.gov.
The McClain County Election Board is located at 121 N. Second Avenue in Purcell and is open the week of February 6 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
