The Newcastle Fire Department was recently recognized by the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) for its ‘exemplary patriotism’ in the display of the American flag.
In a brief ceremony held at the Newcastle Fire Station, the department received a Certificate of Commendation from the Norman Chapter of SAR. The certificate, presented by Chapter President Mark A. Atterson and Vice-President Tony Eastmond, honors the department’s commitment to proudly displaying the U.S. flag and fostering patriotic values in the community.
Fire Chief Todd Yates accepted the award on behalf of the department.
“Our flag represents service, sacrifice, and unity,” Yates said. “We’re proud to display it every day as a reminder of our commitment to this community and the values we strive to uphold.”
Also present for the ceremony were members of the fire department, including Intern Bunch, Firefighter Conner, Captain Hayden, Lieutenant Harris, Captain Rowe, Firefighter Gibbons, Corporal PATRIOTISM on page 3 Brewer, and Firefighter Baker. The Sons of the American Revolution is a national organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and educating the public about the founding principles of the United States.
